PACE

His pace for His Race

Will you join us in walking with the Lord and commit to being in step with God at his PACE?

A Message From Pastor Jeff

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.

HEBREWS 12:1-3

WHERE WE'VE BEEN

There has been a rich, God led history that has developed at Crossroads in the past over quarter of a century. Throughout the life of Crossroads our God called purpose has remained unwavering and remains foundational to everything we do.

1996-2001

Beginnings of Crossroads with a few people who felt a call for a new church that would provide meaningful and exciting worship, strong biblical teaching and preaching, active youth ministry, and evangelistic outreach.

Crossroads becomes a church of the Evangelical Free Church of America. Pastor Glen Stevens accepts call and church services are held at Southwest Junior High in Albert Lea.

Attendance at Crossroads grows and services move to Albert Lea High School. A three-phase building project is visioned for Crossroads. Phase 1, Harvest the Land campaign is started and building begins.

First phase building of multipurpose auditorium is completed. Attendance doubles again. Phase 2 Growing Hand in Hand campaign occurs and expansion of youth ministry areas completed.

Pastor John Crocker serves as interim Pastor. Pastor James Petersen serves as Senior Pastor. Hope Church is planted from Crossroads in Albert Lea. Crossroads Vision 2020 is established with goals of strengthening our church and reaching the world.

Pastor Jeff Phelps is called as Senior Pastor after serving as Youth Pastor. Crossroads staff team grows to increase our ministry abilities. The HOME campaign allows capital improvements to occur, retires remaining debt from Phase 1 and 2 campaigns, and increases our outreach missions support. Attendance grows dramatically post pandemic.

WHERE WE ARE

Our PACE campaign is about keeping in step with God and His purpose at Crossroads as He continues to build His church. We have exceeded our capacity in our adult and family ministry spaces. We are bursting at the seams. God is bringing more people through the doors at Crossroads and we need to make room for them to meet the Lord and grow in Christ. We are called to run the race God has established for us at His PACE and for His purpose.

WHERE WE'RE GOING

Our goal is to provide enough space for everyone, now and in the future. Crossroads has shown a willingness to sacrifice to provide the foundation for Kingdom building work in the generations to come. Buildings can often shape, yet limit, the church’s programs. The Phase 3 building project at Crossroads gives us the opportunity to allow our program needs determine the building design. Without expanded facilities we will limit God’s ability to use this church for His purpose at His PACE.

Our phase three expansion plans:

A new worship center

  • 800 seats create open seats at optimal inviting times

  • Allows us to reach more

  • Increased number of entrances

  • Sloped and stadium seating

Expand our family ministry capabilities

  • Renovate current worship area for youth ministry

  • Increase family ministries by 6000 square feet

  • Add 14 small group breakout rooms

  • Secure children’s ministry with one way traffic flow

Improve our welcome experience by expanding our front entrance

  • Expand front entrance and welcome area

  • Expand coffee and meeting area

  • Open and welcoming

  • Foster relationship building

Additional offices

  • Double the amount of offices

Additional parking spaces

  • Accommodate growing Sunday attendance

TOTAL PRELIMINARY PHASE THREE COST:

$9,800,000

If we are to reach our goal, it will take sacrificial giving from everyone. As each of us prayerfully considers our giving, and steps out in faith, God will expand His kingdom here. Every gift will make a difference.

INCREASE MISSIONS IMPACT:

PACE Campaign Goal

$1,000,000

PACE Missions: Throughout the PACE Campaign, we will give generously to regional, national, and global missions as we run with endurance the race set before us. We commit to keeping our eyes on Jesus, and turning others' eyes to Him as well through initiatives that will strengthen individuals, families, churches and communities in Jesus' name.

We will give to mission outreach locally, nationally, and globally.

NEXT STEPS

How do we participate in this Kingdom building expansion? We are asking the people who call Crossroads their home church to make a three-year financial commitment toward this ministry expansion above and beyond your regular giving. If we are to reach our goal, it is going to take the sacrificial giving from everyone. As each of us prayerfully considers giving, and steps out in faith, we will make this new facility a reality. Every gift will make a difference.

Steps to make your commitment:

  1. Pray

  2. Analyze your spending and asset allocations

  3. Decide the amount of your gifts

  4. Submit your commitment card to church office

Consider ways to sacrificially give:

  • Have a garage sale

  • Tax refunds

  • Downsize a vacation

  • Redirect Christmas gifts

  • Gifts in honor of someone

  • Sell unused gold, guns, art, etc.

  • Appreciated stock

  • Donor Advised Funds

  • Redirected IRAs after 70 ½ years old

  • Gifts of extra income

  • Gifts of real estate

  • Load of grain

We strongly recommend working with a financial planner when considering transfers of assets.

While Jesus was in Bethany in the home of Simon the Leper, a woman came to him with an alabaster jar of very expensive perfume, which she poured on his head as he was reclining at the table.

  • Our goal in this campaign is to raise $9,800,000 for our Phase 3 building project and to further support regional, national, and global missions. The commitments we are asking for can be made over a 3-year time frame. The PACE Campaign will provide the opportunity to further achieve the vision and the purpose that God has intended for Crossroads. This campaign is about keeping pace in the race that God has called Crossroads and each one of us individually to run. Our key scripture for the campaign is from Hebrews 12:1-3.

  • We have seen amazing growth in people attending worship services, our adult, and family ministries. We are exceeding our capacity throughout our current facility.

Crossroads was given this vision when leadership gathered and prayed about what God had in store for this church over 20 years ago.

It is a project that is really about people. It is meant to help us fulfill our purpose statement.; to prayerfully introduce people to Jesus, grow them to be like Jesus, care for others, minister to others and to glorify God.

  • As commitments and dollars are received there will be 3 scheduled parts to our building expansion:

A new worship center with over 800 seats capacity

Expanded family ministry capabilities by over 6,000 square feet.

Expanded welcome area and office space.

  • Each scheduled part will have a specific budget amount set and a trigger point with dollars received before construction begins.

  • One goal of the project is to complete this phase debt free. This is dependent on financial commitments. If needed, Crossroads will borrow money to complete the building project but only up to a capacity of debt that can be serviced through our regular giving and church budget.

  • We have targeted $1,000,000 of the $9,800,000 campaign goal to go towards gospel-centered mission outreach.

Areas that will be considered include family care, drug and alcohol recovery, discipleship of our community youth, crisis relief, foster care advocacy and support, church planting, child poverty, youth discipleship and leadership, bible translation, and global evangelism.

  • One can give to the campaign by monetary gifts throughout the next three years. Other ways of giving to the campaign are appreciated stocks, bonds, securities or other tangible properties. Gifts can be given at any time. For monetary gifts, you can give through the Crossroads app and website. Gifts can also be mailed in, dropped off in the offering or at the Church office. Please note PACE Campaign in the memo line of any checks.

  • Initial gifts are being asked for by May 31,2023. Additional commitments can be given each year over the next 3 years with the campaign ending on May 31, 2026. Commitment cards are available on line or through Crossroads church office.
